This does not happen though. It will come up with found new hardware 'usb device' though it doesn't recognize it. I have also tried the following step of locating the driver folder. It keeps searching and will then just go to the 'Cannot install this Hardware'. I am using windows XP with service pack 2 installed.

I have downloaded the latest drivers for my make of computer. As well as this I have tried connecting it up using two different USB leads in all the different ports and on three different computers.

Also there doesn't appear to be any actual problem with the leads as it can connect through 'usb mode' and will come up on the computer as an external hard drive. Am now completely lost with what to try. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Both USB driver update options are discussed below. Start Download. Once you have downloaded DriverDownloader you will then need to launch the program usually the icon will be saved to the Desktop or My Programs. Once launched you can follow the simple step-by-step instructions to fix your Drivers problems.

If you are having problems such as those above then you will most likely need to update your drivers. Another problem is USB ports tethering not working in Windows To fix your Drivers problems manually you will need to know the particular model of the USB device you are having problems with. Once you have the details you can search the manufacturers website for your drivers and, if available, download and install these drivers.

Downloading our software will give you access to our well-trained and experienced support staff and integrated customer support tools. If you are unsure of whether or not you need to update your Drivers, or indeed which Drivers may need to be updated, you can run a Drivers scan using a DriverDownloader you will need to pay to register this tool but the Drivers scan is free.
