How to get a real estate license in ma
The State of Massachusetts requires that all real estate license candidates take real estate classes in MA before sitting for the real estate license exam. You'll get a certificate at the end of your course that proves that you took the real state course at an approved real estate school, and lets you take the license test.
The course must be 40 hours long, and can be taken either online or in person. How does the real estate class work? What's the schedule like? Well, it depends on the school. At Freedom Trail Realty School, we offer flexible online classes for becoming a realtor, that are available both on demand, and as live webinar day classes, night classes, and weekend classes.
When you take real estate license classes you'll learn everything that you need to know to pass the test and become a real estate agent. Everything is done online, and you have plenty of time to take your class and learn the material at your own pace. Other schools offer in person classes, most often on nights and weekends, or as multi-day intensive crash courses. The first part of the 40 hour real estate course is focused on teaching you everything that you need to know to pass the real estate test and start a career as a real estate agent.
After each lecture you'll take short diagnostic quizzes to check comprehension and progress as you're lreaning don't get too stressed out, though, you'll answer them privately so that you will never feel singled out or embarrassed for not understanding a concept.
Online classes are supplemented with activities, occasional guest speakers, and quiz games to break up the lectures. There is plenty of time for questions and answers built into the 40 hour class, and student interaction and participation are very much encouraged! After you make it through the material about how to become a realtor, your last few hours of class will be focused on test preparation and practical knowledge so that you can identify and address any problem areas before you finish up the class, and prepare for your new career as a real estate agent.
And of course, questions are always welcome after class if you still need some help on something: we hold regular online office hours if you need some extra support, offer private online tutoring, and have support staff available online to answer quick questions by chat.
Oh, and one last thing: don't make the mistake of thinking that taking the class alone will guarantee getting a real estate license!
You definitely need to take some time to study the material covered in the course to be sure that you pass the real estate test. In particular, reviewing the math covered in the course is really important for most people, which is why we offer a class module dedicated exclusively to math review and preperation.
The math itself is super basic and there's only about 10 math questions on the exam total! We have a custom study program that we recommend all of our students follow, and most reputable schools will have something similar to make sure that you're ready for test day.
We also offer thousands of practice test questions to help you prepare for the test, and make sure that you're ready for test day. We offer the 40 hour pre-license class online on a rotating schedule, and you can learn more and sign up for them here.
Pass the Massachusetts Real Estate Exam. Ok, enough about the classes! After you finish your real estate license classes, you'll be eligible to register for and take the Massachusetts real estate exam. The real estate exam is the most important step for becoming a real estate agent in MA, since you need to pass the license exam to become an agent.
The MA real estate exam is questions broken down into two sections: the National section 80 questions , and the Massachusetts real estate law section 40 questions. If you don't pass one section, you'll retake only that section, not the whole exam. You have two years from the date you finish the 40 hour course to take and pass your real estate exam, so you have plenty of time to study and prepare.
After you finish the course, you'll apply with them to take the real estate test. They'll run a background check, confirm that you've completed the full 40 hour course, and let you sign up for a test date either online or at one of their testing centers.
Typically you can get an exam date within a few days of your application being approved. PSI offers the exam on most weekdays and weekends, and they offer both remote online testing and in person testing at test centers located in Boston, Lawrence, Auburn, Fall River, and West Springfield. You can take the test either online at home, or in person at a testing center. If you take the test in person, you will show up at the testing facility you'll check in at the front desk.
They'll take your photo this will be on your license, so look good! The real estate test is all multiple choice, and you can review your answers before finishing. You can take breaks during the test to use the restroom, but keep in mind that you have four hours to finish the test , and any breaks you take count against your time, so you can't take a ton of breaks.
But don't worry too much: the test probably won't take the full four hours to complete! Oh, and yes, you'll be given scratch paper and a calculator for the math problems and remember, there's only about 10 of them on the question test! You won't need to remember long division, or try to do math in your head. When you finish the test, you'll submit it on the test software, and then return to the front desk.
The exam center staff will tell you if you passed or failed. You won't have to wait for your results, or your license: if you pass in person you'll get your license on the spot, and have now become a realtor!
